Together with Duong Lam, Tho Ha is one of the most authentic villages in the Red River Delta that you should visit. In Vietnamese, Tho Ha means “Land on the River” and this name is really very true for the village. The whole village is the peninsular on Cau River and you need to take the local ferry if you want to visit the village. Crossing the river on the ferry with local people and their motorbikes, seeing the village from distance on the river with all old tile roof and Tivi antenna as well as watching people boating, fishing and living on their house boat on the river can be very nice first impression of the village. The boat station will lead you to the central of the village with the local market right on the side, that just mostly open in the morning for villagers. From here, you also can see all the features of typical village in the Red River Delta like the beautiful village gate, Communal House, impressive 500 years old original Pagoda, the old banyan tree. Tho Ha can be the village has the highest density of the people living in the village with 3.500 inhabitants in the area of only 20 hectares. That can explain why all the houses in the village have no gardens and tightly built side by side in very narrow alleys. Many families have to grow tree on the pots and put on their yards. Most of the alleys in the village are connected and walking in these, you like in the matrix.
